iCloud Sync
iCloud Sync keeps your views and app settings aligned across devices signed into the same Apple ID. It is a Sift Plus feature and opt-in.
How to enable
Requires an active Sift Plus subscription.
- Open Settings → iCloud & Data.
- Turn on iCloud Sync.
Sift uses Apple’s SwiftData and CloudKit in your iCloud account. so & so cannot read synced data. Data is encrypted by Apple.
What syncs
- Saved views: names, keywords, colours, icons, date ranges, and advanced rules
- App settings: View Defaults, widget preferences, and other Sift preferences stored locally
What does not sync
- Calendar contents: events always live in Apple Calendar on each device
- Hidden events list: hidden event IDs stay on the device where you hid them (see Hidden events)
- Alert schedules: iOS rebuilds reminders per device when you open the app
Apple Watch
Views sync to Apple Watch through WatchConnectivity when you use the phone app, independent of iCloud Sync. iCloud Sync helps when you use Sift on multiple iPhones, iPads, or Macs (Apple Silicon Macs running the iPhone app).
Turning sync off
Disable the toggle in Settings → iCloud & Data. Data already in your iCloud container stays until you delete it in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage → Sift.
